A Portfolio Management Model for Implementing Organisational Strategies
Presenter: Martin Smit
Thursday 21st September 2017
Synopsis of Talk:
Various research studies show that organisations struggle to bridge the gap between strategy formulation and day-by-day implementation (Project Management Institute, 2014; Morris and Jamieson, 2004; Sull, Homkes, and Sull, 2015). These studies also show that organisations are not effectively implementing and applying project portfolio management best practices to achieve strategic results. The development, implementation and embedding of a portfolio management model will help organisations to enhance effective decision-making in order to select, prioritise, authorise, plan and manage the “right” projects and programmes and allocate the limited resources (e.g. funds and manpower) available to effectively deliver strategic results and maximise business value.
